but living in the richmond for over 37 years. he came here around 1975 or '76 with his wife and daughter from the former soviet union. he's a tremendous member of the russian district since coming to san francisco. he's a journalist with exceptional photographer but journalist for russian publications including russian news covering so many significant events around the world but based in san francisco. he has carried, if you could believe this, four olympic torches in four olympic games, though he's attended i think over 10 olympics, as well. but he began in -- i think it was before the 1984 olympics in l.a. you went to lake placid i think as a first. he carried the the torch in salt lake city in 2002 and athens in 2004 and beijing in 2008 in the name of standing for human rights and against antisemitism throughout the world. he also inspires many residents of san francisco with his passion for human rights around the world, but also diverse cultures in sport and competition, in art, and most of all his kindness and amazing spir

i wanted to thank sarah confrom the richmond sf blog for alerting us and congratulate chef lalu from assiza if you can. i think people know i was on the school board for eight years when we enacted our arts education plan for the school district. this week is national arts in education week. i know some of my colleagues from jane kim to david campos know this but our education master plan is a model for other school districts around the country. this week there is a number of events, one on wednesday, at the asian art museum is a special gathering called the creative impact public reception and it's free to teachers and parents throughout the san francisco bay area. it's a fair that will highlight 35 of our city's arts organizations that really focus on providing arts in the schools. i also wanted to say that my daughter is really a beneficiary of our arts education master plan in the school district as are many of our kids here on the board of supervisors. but the arts education master plan main goal is to create equity among all the kids in the school district so that kids from low

i also wanted to alert people that there have been an unusual string of armed robberies in the richmond district that i and my office have been focused on from august 24, when a jewelry store was hit on gary and 22nd. very unusual to see so many in our district. i've been working closely with our police captain and also sf safety awareness for rch, merchants and residents to make sure we come up with proactive strategies to keep our neighborhoods safe. props to the new principal rosa fong for her leadership to secure it, when there was a robber that went by and there was a lockdown on august 24. pretty much during the first week of school. i applaud the teachers and parents and principal and will be working with merchants and residents to keep our neighborhoods safe. lastly i wanted to also say that i forgot to mention that we just voted upon, on first reading, his an important piece of legislation that would increase solar and energy efficiency improvements in homes and businesses in the city. it was the california rural home mortgage finance authority ordinance that we just passed. bu
